Who it is for:

For travellers who wish to visit Australia for a short period for tourism, visiting family or friends, or short-term business activities.

Main visa subclasses:

  • Subclass 600 – Visitor Visa

For tourists, family visitors or short-term business travellers. May be granted for single or multiple entries, with each stay usually between 3 to 12 months.

  • Subclass 601 – Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)

For eligible passport holders from certain countries (e.g. Japan, Korea, Singapore). Applications are lodged online through the ETA system or mobile app.

  • Subclass 651 – eVisitor Visa

For passport holders from EU and selected European countries, allowing multiple entries with each visit up to 3 months.

  • Subclass 462 / 417 – Working Holiday Maker Program

For eligible young applicants from partner countries who wish to work and travel in Australia for a short period under bilateral agreements.

Key application points:

  • Clearly identify the purpose of your visit (tourism, family visit, or short business trip);
  • Provide proof of sufficient funds, travel plans, and intention to return;
  • Meet health and character requirements;
  • Apply online via ImmiAccount (ETA-eligible passport holders may use the ETA App).

Length of stay: Usually 3 to 12 months, depending on personal circumstances and visa subclass.
